Enter Maya, a child in Kurain village. She has one big sister, Mia Fey, and one mother, Misty Fey. When she is two years old, her mother leaves. Poor Maya! Mia raises Maya, until she too leaves to discover the reason her mother left.

See seventeen-year-old Maya. See Maya be very happy to see her sister again, after many long years. Oh, no! It's Mia's dead body! What will Maya do? Enter Phoenix Wright!

Anyway.

Maya is believed to be the criminal, as her name is written on the wall in Mia's blood. She turns to the young lawyer whom her sister mentored, and he believes in her innocence. Through his efforts, the real killer, Redd White, is revealed, and Maya is exonerated. Yet, finding her killer does not bring Mia back, but Maya stays with Phoenix, her sister's protege, and helps him manage Wright & Co. Law Offices. Through him, she meets a host of interesting people, such as Larry Butz and Miles Edgeworth.

In any case, she helps him in his investigation and trials from then on. A few trials later, Miles Edgeworth is put on trial for killing his father, and it's, like, shock and awe 'cause this is proper stuffy Mr. Edgeworth we're talking about. Super-duper-creepy Manfred von Karma is the prosecutor, and he's, well, super duper creepy. Even his "Objection!"s sound like they came from hell. It turns out that von Karma was really the one who had killed Gregory Edgeworth, and yay, Edgeworth's not guilty, and creepy-guy's locked up and executed.

Maya's eighteen now, and she returns to Kurain Village to train more. She agrees to channel a spirit for a Dr. Turner Grey, under the condition that Phoenix Wright is there for her first channeling. Except, the day of the channeling, Dr. Grey kinda dies. While he’s in the same room as Maya. A locked room, that no one could enter or leave. And only the two of them were there.

So she was arrested for murder. Again. However, it turns out that the real murderer was a nurse who had once worked under Grey and was presumed dead. Her accomplice was Maya’s Aunt Morgan, who wanted Maya gone so her own child would be master of the Kurain Channeling School

With Morgan Fey in prison, her daughter (and Maya’s cousin) Pearl joins “Mystic Maya” and “Mr. Nick” at the law office. Pearl and Maya probably annoy Phoenix to the brink of death about fifty hundred times, but he takes it in good stride. Phoenix takes on another case, defendant Adrian Andrews, and gets her acquitted.

Then, right after the murder of the Jammin’ Ninja, Juan Corrida, Maya is kidnapped. Instead of holding her for random, the kidnapper promises he will let her go if Phoenix proves the defendant, Matt Engarde, innocent within two days. Otherwise, her kidnapper, de Killer, would have her killed.

After some harrowing moments, it is revealed that the defendant himself hired de Killer to murder the victim. As de Killer was Engarde’s butler, Phoenix, Edgeworth, and the police rush to Engarde’s house. Although Maya has already been taken elsewhere, she has left a note that says the Phoenix had better get Engarde convicted, or she will never forgive him, even though Engarde’s conviction means her death.

Phoenix is awesomesauce, though, and he and Edgeworth reveal that Engarde is the real killer to the court. Through their combined powers of awesome, they manage to make de Killer break his contract with Engarde, and Maya is safely returned.

At the start of the third game, Maya is nineteen. She helps Phoenix with more cases, the Mask DeMasque case and the Xin Eoph case, providing the strangest conclusions along the way. (There is a “bur” in “spaghetti,” apparently.) The new prosecutor, Godot, is very mysterious, with his coffee-addiction and his visor and his hate of Phoenix and his, uh, coffee-addiction.

Then, comes the events of Hazakura Temple. Even though she is in prison, Morgan Fey has hatched a devious plot to kill Maya so that Pearl can be the Master. Pearl unwittingly follows her mother’s plan by suggesting that the three of them go to the Hazakura Temple so that Maya can take the “Special Course.”

To summarize this long and gigantic case, Elise Deauxnim, who is actually Misty Fey, is found dead, and one of the nuns who works at the temple, Iris, is believed to be the killer. What really happened is that Pearl was supposed to channel Dahlia Hawthorne, her older half-sister who also is Iris’s twin sister, so that Dahlia could kill Maya. However, Misty Fey channels Dahlia first, and Godot, who knew of Morgan’s plan, kills Dahlia-in-Misty’s-body. Because Maya is trapped in the temple where she is doing her training, she channels Dahlia Hawthorne’s spirit to avoid being killed. Dahlia pretends to be Iris in order to incriminate Maya, but in a really creepy exorcism scene, is exorcised and we see Maya once again. Through Maya’s testimony, we learn what really happened. Godot reveals his past and his real identity as Diego Armando, who loved Mia, which is why he saves Maya.

Though she has just lost her mother, Maya remains strong for Pearl, who still feels responsible for Misty’s death. Maya thanks everyone for their help, and the game ends on a happier note.
